Matobo National Park

All destinations

Matobo Hills National Park, located in south-western Zimbabwe, is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its rich cultural significance and natural beauty. Balancing granite kopjes, ancient San rock art and sacred shrines define a landscape unlike any other in Africa.

Mother and Child Rock Formation

Among the most famous of Matobo's balancing kopjes is the Mother and Child — a poised granite formation that has come to symbolise the park's improbable geology.

Cecil John Rhodes Grave

Located at World's View in the Matobo Hills, the grave of Cecil John Rhodes is both a historic landmark and a popular tourist attraction. Set atop Malindidzimu, the 'hill of benevolent spirits', the site offers sweeping views of the granite landscape Rhodes admired. It attracts visitors for its dramatic scenery, cultural significance to the Ndebele people and its place in Zimbabwe's complex history.
