Located in the city of Chinhoyi in Mashonaland West Province, the Chinhoyi Caves are famous limestone formations with the crystal-clear Sleeping Pool known locally as Chirorodziva. This natural wonder draws divers, nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers to its breathtaking beauty. Echoing Zimbabwe's independence struggle and enduring legacy, the caves offer a profound blend of history, heritage and awe-inspiring exploration.
Chirorodziva — the Sleeping Pool
At the heart of the caves lies the Sleeping Pool, or Chirorodziva, a body of crystal-clear cobalt-blue water fed by underground springs. Its constant temperature and remarkable visibility make it a magnet for divers and photographers.
A living memorial
The caves also carry the memory of Zimbabwe's liberation struggle. The site is a place of quiet reflection as well as adventure — a rare blend of geology, folklore and national heritage.
